There's something Beautiful about it...

It was a brisk Colorado winter Saturday afternoon when I was heading back to Denver. Earlier, I had just covered the Colorado 1A Football State Championship in the small agricultural town of Wiggins, CO. Burlington, their long distance rivals, walked away proud with the State trophy in a hard fought battle on the gridiron, and me, some cold fingertips, but I digress...
With still daylight left in the Rocky Mountain skies, I curiously stemmed down some country roads to see if there were any alternate routes back into the Big City. I'm always up for a new look at the areas around me. That's pretty much how I get to see some amazing aspects of the world.
Following some single lane roads along wheat fields, corn stalks, cattle, oil rigs, new communities, and your basic middle America kind of scene, we were left with little choices where to go, but I knew if we head toward the airport where we could see the activity of planes in the sky, we could find our way from there.

The pavement turned to dirt as the sun began to tilt over the Mountains. This, I thought, could be a fine opportunity to watch some planes takeoff near Denver International Airport. As we watched the airplanes leaving the ground in the far off distance, we pointed that way and continued.
Heck, I already had my camera on me from shooting that football game earlier. The time of day seemed just right, and the planes were taking off to the East - perfect. I was just running out of time.
Hurriedly, I found an open raggedy trail that led to the edge of the airport property and the tall, wired, chain link fence that surrounds DIA. I propped my Jeep Cherokee backwards, grabbed the camera from the back real quick, powered it up as I jumped on top of the roof of the vehicle. The metal roof 'flomping' with my weight.
The sun dipping, the Southwest Airlines flight leaving with a cargo full of passengers, and a simple video of an "Airplane taking off at sunset over the Rocky Mountains..."
Aaahhhh......! (deep sigh sound....)
